Rental turnover inspection
Check a returned loaner: tires, oil, mileage, fuel, your shop's own inspection items, notes and photos - then submit or flag it.
When a rental car comes back, it waits on the Task Board for its turnover inspection. Whoever does the inspection earns its points (3 by default).
How a car gets on the Task Board
- An Advisor or Manager checks the car in from the Rental Fleet and clicks Submit for inspection - see Checking a car in.
- Or anyone with the option uses + New Task > Rental Inspection, picks the car and adds notes on its state.
Start the inspection
- On the Task Board, click Start inspection on the car's card. It's now yours - the card says you're inspecting it.
- The inspection opens. Everything you type is saved as you go, so you can close it and come back with Inspection.

Fill it in
- Tire pressures - all four, in PSI. The car's spec shows next to each tire. Typing two digits jumps to the next tire.
- Oil level - OK or Low. Low asks how many quarts you added.
- Current mileage and Oil change due at.
- Fuel gauge reading - drag the slider to what the gauge shows.
- Inspection items (if your shop added any) - for each one tap the green check (good), the yellow ! (needs future attention) or the red X (needs immediate attention). Tap a lit button again to clear it. Add a note in Enter finding and a photo with the camera button if it helps.
- Notes and up to 4 Photos for anything else.
Submit or flag it
- Submit finishes the inspection. TEKTUNE writes a summary of everything you recorded.
- Flag for Review finishes it and flags the car so a Manager looks at it before it goes out again.
TEKTUNE also flags the car by itself when something needs a look: a tire more than 3 PSI under spec, low oil, an oil change due within 100 miles or overdue, fuel down more than a quarter tank since it was last recorded, or any inspection item marked yellow or red.
Every item needs a rating and every required field has to be filled before you can submit - TEKTUNE tells you what's missing.
Started the wrong car?
Click Cancel inspection at the bottom of the inspection. Everything entered so far is cleared and the car goes back to the start, ready for someone to pick up. Managers can also Reset inspection on someone else's.
After the inspection
- On the Rental Fleet, the car shows Inspection Complete or Flagged for Review.
- View Inspection opens the finished inspection. Managers can Reopen for Editing, and Managers and Advisors can Create New Repair from what was found.
- Every inspection is kept in the car's Vehicle history.
