Kiosks and dashboard screens

Set up an iPad at the counter for customers to sign and fill in forms, and a TV that shows the shop board.

Screens aren't people: they don't count toward your plan's employee limit. Manage them in Shop Settings > Kiosks and Dashboards.

  • A kiosk is an iPad at the counter. It stays blank with your logo until someone sends it a rental agreement or a New Customer Form - then the customer fills it in right there.
  • A dashboard is a TV or monitor showing the shop board.

Set up a kiosk iPad

  1. Click + Add Kiosk, give it a name (for example "Front Counter iPad") and a 4-digit PIN, and click Save.
  2. On the iPad, open shop.tektune.com/kiosk.php in Safari and sign in with your own email and password once.
  3. Sign out: press and hold the logo for 3 seconds.
  4. The sign-in screen now asks for a PIN - enter the kiosk's PIN.
  5. Tap Share > Add to Home Screen. That installs the TEKTUNE Kiosk app, which opens straight to the kiosk screen, full screen.
  6. Turn on Guided Access (iPad Settings > Accessibility) so customers stay in the kiosk.

To use it, click Send to Kiosk when signing a car out (see Electronic signatures) or when starting a New Customer Form. The kiosk card shows what's on screen; Clear screen empties it if a customer walks away.

Set up a dashboard TV or monitor

  1. Click + Add Dashboard, give it a name and a 4-digit PIN, and click Save.
  2. On the TV's browser, open shop.tektune.com and sign in with your own email and password once.
  3. Sign out from the gear menu.
  4. The sign-in screen now asks for a PIN - enter the dashboard's PIN.

Tap the logo on a dashboard to sign it out again. Dashboards get no notifications and never show lockbox codes.

Arrange a dashboard

Click Arrange on the dashboard's card to choose which blocks it shows and in what order - one layout for a TV or computer and one for a phone-sized screen. The screen updates by itself.

Turning screens off

Kiosks and Dashboards is a module. When it's off in Modules and Permissions, every kiosk and dashboard shows "This screen is turned off" and comes back by itself when it's on again.
