Welcome to TEKTUNE

What TEKTUNE is, the four roles, and where everything lives.

Last updated

TEKTUNE is the back-of-shop system that runs alongside your shop management system. It keeps your team's tasks, rental cars, inspections, messages, time off and time clock in one place, on every computer, phone and tablet in the shop.

Who can do what

Everyone signs in with their own account. What you see depends on your role, which an Administrator Manager sets when adding you:

  • Technician - inspections, tasks, messages, time off requests, the time clock and tools.
  • Advisor - everything a Technician does, plus signing rental cars out and in, e-signatures and New Customer Forms.
  • Manager - everything an Advisor does, plus approving time off, time cards, the daily task list and the vehicle list.
  • Administrator Manager - everything, plus Shop Settings: employees, modules, templates, integrations and billing.

Shop screens are not people: a Dashboard is a TV showing the board, and a Kiosk is an iPad at the counter for customers. See Kiosks and dashboard screens.

Modules

Each feature is a module the shop can switch off if it already uses another tool - for example the time clock or the tool inventory. If you can't find something described here, it may be switched off for your role. An Administrator Manager can check in Modules and Permissions.

Finding your way around

  • The board is your home screen - see Your board.
  • + New Task (top right) starts things: a rental inspection, a shop task, a rental sign-out, a New Customer Form, a time off request, signing out a tool, and clocking in.
  • The chat bubble opens Message Center.
  • The gear opens the menu: your profile, Vehicles, Calendar, Daily Tasks, Time Clock, Tool Inventory, Shop Settings (depending on your role), Sign out and Request Support.
