Start a chat

  1. Click + New Chat (Managers then choose New Chat).
  2. Pick one person for a direct message, or several for a group chat.
  3. Type your message and press Enter or Send.

Attach a photo or file with the paperclip. A message that couldn't be sent shows a red Failed - tap to retry.

In a conversation

  • Reply to a message from its + menu - your message shows a quote of the original. You can also react to a message with an emoji.
  • Edit or delete your own messages from their menu.
  • Pin conversations you use a lot so they stay at the top, and use Search to find one.
  • RO numbers (like RO 30421) turn into orange tags when your shop uses Tekmetric - hover or tap for the customer and status, click to open it in Tekmetric.
  • Links show a preview tile.

Special conversations

  • Announcements - Managers post shop-wide news to everyone (with formatting, and optionally a poll). They stay up for 14 days and can't be replied to.
  • Assignments - Managers assign a job to one person with New Assignment; completing it earns points.
  • Self Talk - private notes to yourself. Nobody else can see them.
  • TEKTUNE - System - automatic messages: time off decisions, the weekly points winner, and more.
  • TEKTUNE - Support - your conversation with the TEKTUNE team. See Getting help from TEKTUNE.

Notifications

New messages notify you on your phone and computer - see notifications. On Windows, the TEKTUNE Message Center app keeps Message Center in its own window.

Reviewing messaging activity

Administrator Managers can search messages and activity shop-wide in Shop Settings > Messaging: filter by date, person, conversation type or text, and see the Activity Log of edits, deletions, group changes, polls and assignments. Self Talk is private and never appears there. Administrator Managers can also lock a conversation so messages in it can't be edited or deleted.
